Frankenmuth

For Mid-Winter break, we decided not to venture too far from home. We went to Frankenmuth and stayed at the Bavarian Inn Lodge. Our first night there, we went to dinner at Oma's (a recurring phrase we kept repeating was "OMA Goodness, service is slow! And it was! But the food was excellent). Then we took advantage of their indoor miniature golf course and huge video arcade. Here are a few photos of the kids:

Saturday, we got up and went to breakfast and then headed over to world-famous, Bronner's, a HUGE Christmas store. Seriously, you've never seen anything like it. Rows and rows of trees and ornaments and trimmings...it's awesome.

Well, Lyndsey suddenly wasn't feeling very well and had to sit down several times. Which, by the way, is SO not like her. She's my shopper and I had been looking forward to browsing Bronner's with her jumping around by my side. But it wasn't happening. Although, in between her belly aches and grimaces, I did get a few shots, including one of Lynz taking a rest:

We had planned to spend the rest of Saturday in the hotel pool(s). But, unfortunately, Lynz only got worse and when we got back to the hotel, she got sick. Poor thing ... We felt so bad for her! So she and I stayed in the hotel room while Rob and Zach went swimming for a bit. We had pizza for dinner (well, three of us did, anyway) and just hung out in the room. Not a fun way to spend a vacation, but it's all good. Gave us some nice bonding time. :-)

Sunday morning, Lynz was feeling a little better, which is a good thing because it was check-out day. Can't imagine what it would have been like if she'd still been puking. Ugh. We grabbed a bite to eat and did a little shopping. We ended up at this cool Mirror Maze, which we all enjoyed:

We finished up our trip with some fun. LOVE these...

Have you missed us?

No, aliens didn't abduct the Schab family! We didn't move to Timbucktoo with no Internet access.

So I figure after SEVERAL months of no posts, it's time for an update. I could kick myself for not keeping up on this blog. The only excuse I can come up with is ... well ...none.

So, I will spend some time posting a few updates on what we've been doing since October.

The kids will get their own posts but here's an update on Rob and me:

ROB is still working at Country Dairy. He's doing very well and still brings home ice cream WAY too often. This is why I (Lynda) have only lost 10 pounds since the beginning of the year and not 40, like I hoped to have lost by now. It really has nothing to do with willpower. It's all Rob's fault.

I (Lynda) am still keeping very busy freelancing. I finished my first manuscript in December which is in the editing stage. Just a couple weeks ago, I got "the call" informing me that I am a finalist in the ACFW Genesis contest for the first 15 pages I entered in the Mystery/Suspense/Thriller category. This is a huge honor for me!

A while ago, my dad told me that if I finaled again this year, he would help pay for me to attend the writers conference this September, to take place in Denver. I finalled, and I am going to the conference! Is my dad the coolest, or what? I'll admit, besides being excited for this opportunity, I'm a little nervous, too. I've never rubbed shoulders with agents, editors, and published authors. But, who knows? Maybe one day I'll be one of them! To follow along on my writing journey and road to publication, visit my other blog, On the Write Track.

Well, I'll sign off now and get to work on posts about the kids and what they've been up to. Again, sorry it's taken me so long to update. Hopefully, it won't be that long again. If you notice it's been a while, don't be afraid to give me a good kick in the pants. Trust me, sometimes that's exactly what I need.
